Councilmember <br />Ihlan opined that it was important to maintain reasonable and <br />effective response times during daytime hours for public safety <br />expectations of the citizens and visitors to Roseville. <br />CouncilmemberPust sought assurances from Chief Cra�away that <br />all part-time department staff was eligible to apply for the full- <br />time positions; and that the internal hiring process would be fair <br />and open. <br />Chief C�a�away assured Councilmembers that the application <br />process would be a fair and open process. <br />Councilmember Kough questioned why the supervisor position <br />was proposed as permanent, and not temporary. <br />Chief Gasaway advised that in order to attract qualified <br />candidates with a higher skill set, it was prudent to attract them <br />from a current career. <br />Councilmember Maschka clarified that the City Council was <br />supporting hiring of three full-time positions to the Fire <br />Department. <br />Restatement of the Original Motion, as Amended: <br />Klausing moved, Ihlan seconded, approval of the Fire <br />Department hiring one regular full-time supervisor, two limited- <br />term full-time employees <br />�•�r, ��� ��►�� as amended with the provision that the Fire <br />Chief would take action within the next three months to propose <br />a by-law revision to address the double pension benefit, to be <br />voted on at the next membership meeting of the Firefighters <br />Relief Association. <br />Roll Call [Original Motion as Amended] <br />Ayes: Ihlan; Pust and Klausing. <br />Nays: Maschka and Kough. <br />9.
