The Mounds View School District has requested the City Council's support for its in its <br />application for an environmental clean-up grant with the Department of Employment and <br />Economic Development for their property at 2959 Harr�line Avenue. <br />�_f� BACKGROUND: <br />}. ? Mounds View School District has been working toward redeveloping their former offices <br />at 2959 I-�amline Avenue for approximately two years. This past year they entered into an <br />agreement with Moser Homes and Zawadski Homes to pursue the redevelopment of the <br />subject parcel �ro�n the former office to a residential use. <br />f.�' During the inspection of the site in preparation of a Phase I Environmental study, it was <br />discovered that certain forms of contamination existed on site and within the structure <br />which must be removed prior to any redevelopment occr�ing. <br />�.. � Based on this information and the cost of environmental clean-up, the Mounds View <br />School District has determined that it is in their and the City's best interest to apply for an <br />environmental grant with DEED to assist with the parcels environmental clean-up in <br />preparation for redevelopment. <br />?.� Typically cities offer support for private grants through many of the state agencies, and <br />the request by the Mounds View School District is a worthy request. <br />�.� SUGGESTED CITY COUNCIL ACTION: <br />3. ] ADOPT A RESOLUTION SUPPOTING the Mounds View District's attempt to obtain <br />a DEED grant to assist with the environmental clean-up of their property at 2959 �-Tamline <br />Avenue. <br />Attachment — Draft Resolutions and District request <br />Prepared by: City Planner Thomas Paschke — 651-7927074 <br />
