In order ta make the faeility more com�lete, in 1998 the addition af banque�lrneeting/lacker roorns were acicied with a grant fram the State of Minnesota. Again, in 2Q46 the City recei�red $SOO,OOfl from the state to ezahance tlae facility. TY�e actual request was for $960,000 so ihe praposed projects �r�'ill be scaled back. A need s�iil exists �o identz£y ways to fund the remaining projecis. T�e his�ary is obvious and it malces se�se ta cc�ntinue to pariner with the �tate of Minnesata tn allaw ti�is World Class facility to contiz�ue ta improve. This is an off banding year, but consideration s�o�ld be given tn contin�e discussio�: on how financial resources z�ight be included i� t�e states o�gpzng budget apprnpriations andlor �e a regular in the l�onc�ing bill. T�is will warrar�t furiher discussians with our local legislatures io discuss the options and passibilities. Discussion Due to the re�ional, state ar�d beyand nature of the Guidant 7ohn Ro�e Minnesota OVAL it zs appropriate tn considea- a cansi�tent and continued partners�ip wit� the Sta�e of Minnesota. There are several �ntentials includzng the bonding bill, s�ate operatioans b�dget and/or be defined as a part o�'the metro�olitan regzanal park system vvi�ich rnay then be eligible to receive fiYnding �via the Metropolitan Council and i�aere znay be other o�tions. Even tho�zg� ihis zs an ofi�l�onding y�ar, it may matce sense to keep dzscussians occurring in order to enntinue to solidify the state and city part�ership and research iurt�er options. Attachment B
