_____Original Message-----
From: Chris Miller
Sent: Friday, October 27, 2006 2:11 PM
To: *RVCouncil
Subject: Proposed Park & Ride Skating Center
Dear Council,
Over the past two weeks, City Staff have been meeting with officials
from Metro Transit who have expressed interest in re-starting the Park
& Ride that used to be at south parking lot of the Skating Center up
until a couple of years ago. Their ridership is increasing, and they
have exceeded their allotted spots at Rosedale. We have a reached an
agreement in principle that is virtually the same as the previous
agreement, although at this time Metro Transit is only looking for a
temporary solution until they can find a permanent facility.
Our normal process for moving this forward would he to bring this item
before the Council for consideration at the next available meeting.
However, we were just informed today by Metro Transit that they are
under a very tight deadline to solidify alternative spots to their
Rosedale site, which includes an informatianal/marketing campaign. As
you might guess, Metro Transit would like to begin printing brochures
as soon as possible.
We will schedule this item for consideration at the 11/13/06 Council
meeting. Based on the proposed agreement, and in considering the
public policy issues and community benefits, Staff will be
recommending approval. [nThile we won't make any promises to Metro
Transit with regard to the Councils decision, Im sure they would
appreciate knowing whether the Council finds this favorable for the
City or not.
I realize that none of you have seen the agreement, but it is virtually
identical to the previous one. And I dont recall much if any previous
opposition or citizen complaints. If you're agreeable to sharing them
at this time, please let me know your thoughts.
Thanks.
Christopher K. Miller
Finance Director & Interim City Manager
City of Roseville, MN 55113
651-792-7031
