Councilmember Ihlan again <br />suggested sliding the timeframe ahead, for the decision-malcing to <br />be done after elections. <br />Further discussion included data privacy issues related to each <br />candidate and when the data remained private and when it became <br />public. <br />City Attorney Anderson was directed to be available for legal <br />counsel at the October 31,2006 meeting scheduled for 4:00 p.m. <br />Mayor Klausing, in response to Councilmember Ihlan's concerns <br />related to the new Council mal�ing the decision, opined that the <br />City Council was elected to serve the citizens through the end of <br />the year; and hiring the City Manager was another action item, <br />and the City Counci�'s job was to move the process forward. <br />Mayor Klausing noted, as per previous discussion, there would be <br />time following the election to re-assess the timeline, and at this <br />time, further opined that there was no need to delay the process, <br />noting that Councilmember Ihlan would continue serving on the <br />City Council in either the capacity of Councilmember or Mayor, <br />depending on the outcome of the municipal election. <br />Councilmember Ihlan continued to dispute the circumstances of <br />the process and timing, where finalists for the City Manager <br />position would be selected without the participation of the new�y- <br />elected Council. <br />Mayor Klausing acicnowledged Councilmember Ihlan's <br />comments and they were so noted. <br />Councilmember Pust suggested a social format for the November <br />16,2006 meeting with citizens. <br />Mayor Klausing opined that the previous process at the OVAL of <br />finalists meeting the public, with coffee and cool�ies, seemed to <br />provide ample opportunity for citizen interaction with candidates. <br />Ms. Bacon noted that the previous social had been very in�'orma� <br />and unstructured, with sufficient time for mingling, and name tags <br />
