REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Department Approval: Manager <br />ltem Description: <br />BACKGROUND <br />ACCEPTANCE OF TARGET <br />FOUNDATION GRANT FUNDS <br />Date: �1 �4� <br />item No.: S.b <br />Agenda Section: <br />The Target Foundation has awarded a grant to the Roseville Police Department in the amount of <br />$500.00. <br />The Department plans to use the funds to support a safety program, Computer COP. <br />ComputerCOP is a quick way for parents to find out if children are safe online. <br />Parents just load the ComputerCOP CD into their home computer and ComputerCOP instantly <br />scans for potentially offensive images and keywords from a database of words and phrases <br />drawn from the environment of pornography, drugs, violence, hate crimes and gambling. <br />ComputerCOP also alerts parents to pedophiles attempting to communicate with their children. <br />The Department plans to purchase 1,000 copies of this worthwhile program to distribute <br />throughoutthe community. <br />PROPOSED ACTION <br />Allow the police department to accept the grant funds and proceed with the purchase and <br />distribution of ComputerCOP. <br />FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS <br />Not applicable. <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION <br />Apply the $500.00 in grant funds to the purchase of ComputerCOP <br />��■1�1}[�` I�iT�'�,i�ii��l <br />Request Council approval to accept the $500.00 in grant funds. <br />
