January 19,2005
Duane Schwartz, Director of Public Works
City of Roseville
2660 Civic Center Dr Via E-mail
Roseville, MN 55113
Dear Duane:
From the previous discussions the Roseville City Council has had about the bus stop shelter
program, it is clear that Transtop can make this program a success because:
- Transtop is an established locally based company with 25 years of experience in the bus
shelter advertising business in Minneapolis and St. Paul.
Transtop already has a warehouse maintenance facility with a full time maintenance staff,
cell phones with pagers, vans and equipment. We have a maintenance operation in place
and would not lose time hiring staff and setting up facilities, so we could move very
quickly once the franchise is approved to construct the bus shelters.
■ Transtop already has an established sales force that has been very successful with both
national and local advertisers because of our established advertising contacts. Roseville
would easily become part of a Twin Cities media buy with Transtop.
 Transtop is minority managed
■ Transtop is financed by and banks with local banks
Transtop has excellent established relationships with local vendors like Xcel Energy.
They have provided electrical service for our shelters for 25 years, and we have an
existing agreement with them. The Roseville shelters could easily be added to that
agreement.
To summarize our proposal, Transtop would provide the following:
• Locations
o On October 12,2004 we submitted a map and location list to you of 24 proposed
locations. We have proposed 4 extra locations because we know there is an
attrition rate when getting adj acent property owner approval and dealing with
construction specifics. In addition, we have had discussions with Metro Transit
about the viability of replacing some of their bus shelters in Roseville.
o Having ridden all the bus routes in Roseville, we have tried to balance the needs
of the Roseville community for bus shelters with the need to choose locations that
are saleable to fund this program.
o Many of these locations would co-exist with existing bus benches. We have co-
existedwith the bus benches in Minneapolis and St. Paul for 25 years with no
problems.
(952) 854-19 6 800-854-1922 6 Fax (952) 854-8303
Riverview Oce Tower 6 8009 34`h Avenue South 6 Suite 1520 o Minneapolis, MN 55425
