REQUEST FOR CITY COUNCIL ACTION
Department Approval:
DJW/DPW

DATE: Ol/31/OS
ITEM NO: 3.f
Agenda Scction:
CONSENT
Item Description: Authorizing City to renew Data License Agreement with Hennepin
County for the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Data for
2005 (PF3520).
].
.
]
.
BACKGROUND:
The City of Roseville uses i parcel-level data from metropolitan county data providers
for the purposes of data analysis. There is significant value in the city gaining access to
this level of data. It enables the city to perform numerous comparative studies with like
first-ring communities such as analysis of housing supply.
On September 22,2003, Council approved an agreement with Hennepin County for
access to its electronic parcel data base. Their agreement is known as the Electronic
Proprietary Database (EPDB) License Agreement. Hennepin County has requested an
extension to the current agreement with us (approved for 2004 by the Council on 1/26/04)
through December 31,2005. In order to be able to undertake this extension, the City must
furnish a copy of a resolution stating that it wishes to continue the agreement with
Hennepin County and also stating that the City authorizes the City Manager to act as
signatory for the agreement renewal document.
STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS:
After review of the agreement and the renewal document by the City Attorney, staff
recommends that Council authorizes the City Manager to sign the agreement renewal on
behalf of the City. There is no cost to the City.
SUGGESTED COUNCIL ACTION:
By resolution, approve renewal of the Electronic Proprietary Database (EPDB)
License Agreement with Hennepin County and authorize the City Manager to sign
the renewal documen
Preparedby: David Windle (651-792-7075)
Attachments: Resolution and Hennepin County EPDB Agreement Renewal.
'win,rowrillE'ammL1PL.?{lF; 2iN*ILtINt+I'.
