Staff Recommendation
Based upon the current duties and responsibilities and in comparison to pay levels of other office
positions within the City that perform similar duties, Staff recommends the Council authorize the
reclassification of the Receptionist position from Level B of the City's Compensation Schedule
(see attached) to Level C effective March l, 2005.
F'rnancial Impacts
Based on Staffs recommendation, the City's current receptionist would move from a current
wage of $15.64 per hour to $16.42 consistent with the top step of both levels. The additional
salary and City-paid benefits (PERA, FICA, and Medicare) would amount to $1,800 annually.
As this is a mid-year adjustment, the total impact on the 2005 Budget is $1,500.
Monies are available in the City's contingency account for 2005. The wage adjustment will be
permanently added in conjunction with the 2006 Budget.
Attachments
a) 2005 City Compensation Schedule for non-exempt employees
b) City Receptionist job description
c) Job descriptions for similar positions
Council Action Requested
Approve the reclassification of the Receptionist position from Level B of the City's
Compensation Schedule (see attached) to Level C effective March 1,2005.
