Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Roseville, Minnesota, was duly held at the City Hall in said City on Monday, April 11,2005, commencing at 6:00 p.m. The following members were present: and the following were absent: Member introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. A RESOLUTION OPPOSING ELINIINATION OF BUS ROUTES IN ROSEVILLE WHEREAS the Metropolitan Council proposes to eliminate all but one of Roseville's circulator bus routes, and reduce service on the remaining route, and WHEREAS: many residents of senior housing and nursing homes have no other means of transportation other than circulator buses which provide needed transportation to health care clinics, banks, grocery stores and shopping centers; and WHEREAS: employers in the City of Rosevilic and surrounding communities rely on public transportation to provide a low cost, environmentally sound way of help employees get from home to work and back again; and WHEREAS: the cost of fuel continues to increase, creating an undue burden on people of low income. WHEREAS the circulator bus routes are essential to maintaining an effective transit systein in the city of Roseville; THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Roseville City Council hereby expresses its strong support for maintaining Roseville's circulator bus routes. The Roseville City Council respectfully asks the Metropolitan Council to reconsider the proposed elimination of Routes 223, 224,225 and 226 and proposed service reduction on Route 227, and to work toward an alternative transit budget that preserves Roseville's circulator bus routes. The Roseville City Council also respectfully asks Governor Tim Pawlenty and the Minnesota State Legislature to provide adequate funding for Metro Transit and other local transit systems, so that bus service reductions and route eliminations can be avoided. Adopted by the Council of the City this l lth day of April, 2005 The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member and, after a full discussion thereof and upon a vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: And the following voted against the same: Whereupon the resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
