Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of <br />Roseville, Minnesota, was duly held at the City Hall in said City on Monday, April 11,2005, <br />commencing at 6:00 p.m. <br />The following members were present: and the following were absent: <br />Member introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />A RESOLUTION OPPOSING ELINIINATION OF BUS ROUTES IN ROSEVILLE <br />WHEREAS the Metropolitan Council proposes to eliminate all but one of Roseville's circulator <br />bus routes, and reduce service on the remaining route, and <br />WHEREAS: many residents of senior housing and nursing homes have no other means of <br />transportation other than circulator buses which provide needed transportation to health care <br />clinics, banks, grocery stores and shopping centers; and <br />WHEREAS: employers in the City of Rosevilic and surrounding communities rely on public <br />transportation to provide a low cost, environmentally sound way of help employees get from home <br />to work and back again; and <br />WHEREAS: the cost of fuel continues to increase, creating an undue burden on people of low <br />income. <br />WHEREAS the circulator bus routes are essential to maintaining an effective transit systein in the <br />city of Roseville; <br />THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Roseville City Council hereby expresses its strong support <br />for maintaining Roseville's circulator bus routes. The Roseville City Council respectfully asks the <br />Metropolitan Council to reconsider the proposed elimination of Routes 223, 224,225 and 226 and <br />proposed service reduction on Route 227, and to work toward an alternative transit budget that <br />preserves Roseville's circulator bus routes. The Roseville City Council also respectfully asks <br />Governor Tim Pawlenty and the Minnesota State Legislature to provide adequate funding for <br />Metro Transit and other local transit systems, so that bus service reductions and route eliminations <br />can be avoided. <br />Adopted by the Council of the City this l lth day of April, 2005 <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member <br />and, after a full discussion thereof and upon a vote being taken thereon, the <br />following voted in favor thereof: <br />And the following voted against the same: <br />Whereupon the resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. <br />
