'� ����'�� ���'C�` � <br />lie�n De��ri pti� ��. <br />Central Park Muriel Sahlin Arboretum Wildflower Garden Burn <br />BACKGROUND <br />As a part of an ongoing maintenance program for the 40' x 60' wildflower garden at the <br />Arboretum it is necessary to bum the area periodically. This not only rids the weeds but <br />also enriches the native plants. The burn is considered controlled and done by <br />experienced individuals. <br />The Arboretum maintenance staff will be conducting the burn and will notify all required <br />departments prior to starting the burn. <br />The burn is scheduled to take place on Tuesday April 12, weather permitting. If not on <br />the 12th, then the first weather conducive day after. <br />POLICY <br />This is consistent with the adopted open burning policy of the City and the Arboretum <br />management plan. <br />FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS <br />None. <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION <br />Based on the need for a continuing maintenance program the staff recommends that <br />the Arboretum Wildflower area be burned on Tuesday April 12, 2005, or the first <br />weather conducive day after. <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Motion authorizing the Fire Marshall to issue a permit to allow open burning of the <br />Wildflower area at the Arboretum on Tuesday April 12,2005 or the first weather <br />conducive day after. <br />
