The
newsletter has gone through several redesigns in the past four decades. The
current design and name was established in 1998.
In January the Council directed staff to request proposals to ensure it is using the
best quality and most cost effective means of preparing and delivering the
Roseville Wrap. The City issued a RFP which included a redesign of the
newsletter. The City chose Greenhaven Printing for the redesign and printing of
the City newsletter.
Discussion
Residents rely on the newsletter for information about what is happening in the
City. Each issue carris current news, recycling schedule, important phone
numbers and a calendar of events along with other timely information.
The current name does not convey the purpose of a newsletter and the pastel colors
lack impact.
Staff discussed several possible names including Inside Roseville, Roseville City
News, Roseville Today and Roseville City Update. We looked at the names of
other cities' newsletters and found a variety of names. Some cities used
alliteration (Experience Eagan) and others played on their cities' names (Park
Pages — Brooklyn Park or Le Petit Canadien — Little Canada). After considerable
discussion, staff felt that "Roseville City News" best reflects the purpose of the
newsletter.
