�`a�x �F <br />_ �� � <br />�� <br />h� inaeso�a. �; �,� <br />To: Roseville City Council <br />From: Neal Beets <br />Re: SAFER Grant Application <br />Date: June9,2005 <br />I write briefly for two reasons. <br />One, to point out that there is a federal deadline for applying for these grant <br />funds, which is why we are coming to you now to ask for authority to submit <br />this grant application. <br />But, two, to say that this application may not be approved by the federal <br />government; as with the "Clinton Cop" grant funds, there were a lot of <br />applications. And, even if the application is approved, you can still decide later <br />whether you want to accept the federal funds. Perhaps you want to want to hear <br />budget presentations or you want to reflect longer before making a final decision <br />on the concept of potentially hiring three fulltime, daytime-available firefighters. <br />By filing the application, we at least preserve an opportunity to qualify for these <br />funds. ff we don't file the application, we certainly won't be considered for these <br />grant funds. <br />
