REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Department Approval: Manager Approved: <br />���� ��.� <br />�ate: 612o1os <br />Item: 3,Y <br />Agenda Section: <br />Consent <br />Item Description: <br />2005 Law Enforcement Legal Services- ("LELS") Contract Terms <br />Background <br />In January, Council agreed to all proposed union contract items other than the COLA for <br />2005. During this meeting, Council passed a COLA to be set for all City staff at 2°/o for <br />the 2005 calendar year. <br />Since this time, City staff and Union members from LELS have met in mediation <br />unsuccessfully and were headed toward arbitration on the issue of pay. <br />Recently, Council gave direction to offer all staff an additional 1°/o COLA, to be effective <br />711105, in hopes of resolving all City labor contracts. This 1°/o additional COLA effective <br />711105 would be on top of the 2°/o COLA that has been in place since 111105. <br />The City of Roseville has three collective bargaining units. This report deals with the <br />Police Officer's unit. There are currently 36 city employees in the LELS bargaining unit. <br />They are comprised of non supervisory licensed officer's. <br />Update <br />City staff has since made this offer to all union groups. The City of Roseville has three <br />collective bargaining units. This report deals with the LELS proposed contract <br />agreement for 2005. There are 36 city employees in the LELS Police Officer unit. <br />The new offer has been accepted by vote of the LELS to resolve the 2005 bargaining <br />agreement. <br />The Police Sergeants (Teamsters) are now the only group still pending for 2005 contracts. <br />The Sergeants are at the final offer stage of the contract process and ready for a vote in <br />early July pending arbitration if the offer is not accepted. <br />
