�� ������ � <br />Rose�lle Housing and Redeve3apmentAuthority <br />Background Information <br />HRA Community Dialogues on Housing <br />S outh East Area Dialogue <br />Apri126,2005 <br />National Guard Armory <br />The IZosEVili� Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA)wants to better understand community concerns <br />about housing issues. To achieve this goal, the HRA, with support of the City Council, is holding a series of five <br />neighborhood z�eetin�� and two meetings with businesses and organizations. <br />These dialogues are being facilitated by the Center for Policy, Planning, and Performance. There will be a report to <br />the City Council, which will include what was learned from IisEening to the community and recommendations about <br />ways to address housing issues now and in the future. <br />In an effort to share information as the process unfolds, a sum�nary of each dialogue is being made available to the <br />public. Summaries willbe available at neighborhood dialogues, on the HRA web site, and upon request to the City. <br />For more information, go to www.citvofroseville.comand click on the "Housing & Redevelopment Authority" <br />linlc or call I-IIZA staff at 651-792-7015. <br />South East Area Summary <br />Who Attended? <br />Thirty-three (33) residents attended. �iii Maje- <br />rus, HRA Chair, welcomed everyone and opened <br />the dialogue. <br />Staff members of the City's Community Devel- <br />opment Deparfrnent �vere present and shared statis- <br />tical information about the different plai�t�ing dis- <br />tricts included in the South East area. <br />Twenty-eight (28) of the 33 participants com- <br />pleted feedback forms. Twenty-seven (27) respon- <br />dents live in the South East area. One respondent <br />lives in the South West Area. Nearly all � the re- <br />spondents: <br />•;- live in a single-family house; <br />•:� own their home; and <br />� plan to be living in the same home three years <br />from now. <br />Two respondents rent apartments, and one respon- <br />dent p]�s to be living in another city in �Iiree years. <br />On average, respondents have lived in �oseville <br />for 19 years and in their neighborhoods for 18 years. <br />There were slightly more men than women. Nine- <br />teen (19) of the respondents were between the ages <br />of 36 and 65, and eight � the respondents �vere 66 <br />and older. <br />What do participants value about their <br />neighborhoods? <br />Respondents mentioned the following characteris- <br />tics most often: <br />�� Neighbors and "neigk�borliness" (18times) <br />:• Convenient location (16 times) <br />;* Quiet and/or safety (15 times) <br />� Parks and Open Space (8 times) <br />Other qualities that were mentioned three to five <br />times included: <br />�� �oseville government and services (5 times) <br />3 Housing Maintenance (4 times) <br />•3 Schools (3 times) <br />-;+ Diversity (3 times) <br />�• The setting—lakes, neighborhood, ete.
