(Smallgroup <br />discussion verbal report and notes) <br />�fr� ir�� T <br />� Change—lots of housmg being sold <br />+ Lack of regulation of rental housing <br />� Conversion of owner-occupied single-family homes into rental <br />• Met Council Houses — poor maintenance, residents create canflicfi in neighborhoods <br />(noise and police activity), need support services far this type of housing <br />• Need to control dogs <br />� High density housing needs to be controlled to avoid concentrations and could use <br />mare variability in ownership structure, type of housing (townhome, condo, etc.), <br />income mix <br />F Neighborhood is seeing housing speculation, e.g. "flipping" houses is going on <br />residents believe low interest rates contribute to this occurring <br />F Young or first-time home owners don't really know how to care for homes <br />Graic� 2 <br />— . Rental properties — increase in owner-occupied being converted to rental; rental <br />— properties are not well maintained <br />C;�n���, 3 <br />� Many good things about the neighbarhood—neighbars, quiet, mix of young and old, <br />location, parks and activity, history, safety, in the city but not <br />+ Met Council rental housing has created issues — social problems, other residents feel <br />less safe, other residents not feeling as though their complaints are being heard <br />+ Group homes —no advance notice of their arrival in the neighbarhood and no info <br />about who will be living there and how they are regulated <br />. Buffering is needed between residential and business uses—aesthetic improvements, <br />trash, no fences, toxic fumes and other negative environmental impacts, city doesn't <br />respond to residents' complaints—business is encroaching on residential, what does it <br />mean far a business to be a good neighbar <br />. New development is having environmental impacts, removing habitat, tree loss etc. <br />
