I encourage you
to vote against this expenditure for two very simple reasons: first,
it wont deliver the speed reduction claimed; second, it's too
expensive.
From personal experience with the curve in Victoria near it's
intersection with West pwasso Blvd, a similar curve on South Owasso
wont have any significant effect on speed. Most people dont slow
down for the curve on Victoria or if they do its only for two or
three hundred feet.
This year Roseville citizens were saddled with an average increase in
city taxes of almost 208. I for one want to see the council do what
is necessary drop taxes next year to make up for some of the increase
this year. Spending $300,000 to $600,000 for a curve in the road to
appease a very small number of people who knew they were buying a
home on a fairly heavily traveled street is not reasonable. I am
asking you all to grab onto the city purse strings and pull hard to
reduce our taxes by voting against this extravagant expenditure.
I also understand that the speed limit on South owassa used to be 40
mph and that it was reduced to 35 mph and then to 30 mph. I strongly
object to this. People on or near heavily travelled South Qwasso
paid less for their homes because of the traffic. Since these
homeowners have already been compensated for their less desirable
location why should the city increase travel times for all citizens
by reducing the speed limit? For this reason, I am asking that the
speed limit on South Owasso be set back up to 40 mph.
Dick Lambert
800 Brenner Avenue
Roseville, NlT 55113
(651) 483-1492 (office)
(651) 483-9871 (home)
