Gaf rrr ..rr
-r_Tirr
Approximately 7p% of the increased
nature center use in 2004 came from
attendance at HANC's special events.
This increase was a combined result of
the highly successful Wild Rice Festival
and the improved format of FQRHANC's
Holiday Craft Fair. Since both of these
events provided income for the nature
center, this increased attention is highly
noteworthy.
BV"aak-ir Visitor Summarv
The number of walk-in visitors coming
into HANC's interpretive building in 2004
increased by 3.%. This amounted to
more than 1000 additional visits by
guests enjoying our stimulating
atmosphere and interactive exhibits.
Although these casual visits to the
nature center are not revenue-
producing, they provide opportunities
for people to become familiar with
program offerings and special events,
the primary revenue sources for the
nature center.
FciliV Uaqe Report
The interpretive building at Harriet
Alexander Nature Center was open 1735
hours in 2004. Of these, 910 hours
were used for scheduled programs and
events, while the remaining hours were
available for walk-in visitors. Many of
HANC's walk-in clientele are families
with young children who come to enjoy
independent play with our many
interactive exhibits. I n addition,
community members walking on the
trails often come in to browse exhibits
or library books, or to ask a naturalist
about something they saw on the trail.
HANC has many uses for many different
types of people. Versatility is one of its
greatest virtues.
i if Event # Attendees i
 Q en House
' Earth Da Celebration —
Wild Rice Festival
 Halloween S ook-tacular
Hliry 'rk Fais  4C}
: T71 : ix5 :
Season # Visitors
 Win#er ]+a
ti,,;, :;a
 uxamEr 1914
. __ll .
