The State of Minnesota adopted MN Statute, Chapter 18G.16, Shade Tree Pest <br />and Disease Control law, Chapter 706, to protect and preserve the health of the <br />urban forest on public and private lands. <br />FINANCIAL IMPLICATION <br />Staff is anticipating that in addition to the 2005 budget of $25,000 that <br />approximaiely an additional $45,000-$50,000 will be necessaryto complete the <br />work. <br />Potential Funding Options: <br />1) Supplemental Appropriation- City Reserve Funds <br />2) Park Improvement Funds- if the City Council determines that the funds <br />should be allocated from the PIP, staff has identified the following <br />suggested areas: <br />a. Bennett Lake Lighting Project $25,000 <br />b. Central Park Dredging Project Savings $ 6,000 <br />c. Forao Bleacher Hard Surface Pads $ 5;000 <br />d. F�r�� Landscaping Improvement Projects $ 9,000 <br />$45, 000 <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends that the City of Roseville continue to address the diseased <br />and hazard tree removal program as outlined in the City Ordinance and State <br />Statute. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED <br />Discuss funding options and offer guidance for staff. <br />
