Biking facts from Minnesota <br />By The Associated Press <br />State Wire <br />PublishedAugust 8,2005 <br />About cycling in Minnesota: <br />-66 percent of Minnesotans are bicyclists. <br />-Minnesota leads the nation with 1,300 miles of bicycle trails. Together with Wisconsin, the two <br />states have one-fourth of the nation's bike trails. <br />-Minnesota has a bicycle freeway: the 9-mile Cedar Lake Regional Trail in Minneapolis, with a <br />divided four-lane bike path. <br />-The average bike trip costs a penny per mile. <br />-Urban bicycle trips of up to three miles can decrease travel time. <br />-Biking hums 350 to 700 calories per hour.
