City Council Study Session — 08/15/OS <br />U�,�'T Minutes - Page 3 <br />families and community resources to create relationships that <br />enhance the well-being of our kids." <br />SRFC Vision Statement: "Suburban Ramsey County is a <br />community where our children and youth's safety, security, <br />health and learning are a priority for all and no child remains at <br />risk." <br />Ms. Hansen concluded by requesting continued and/or increased <br />financial investing in youth support to NYFS. <br />Discussion included the age groups served by NYFS (from age 4 <br />through senior citizens); referral agencies and contacts; staffing; <br />City funding to the NYFS and how those funds are used (for <br />NYFS or other collaboratives); need to find other means of <br />funding previously funded by collaboratives; and possible in- <br />kind services that the City could offer other than financial. <br />Councilmember Ihlan opined her personal support to provide <br />funding. <br />Further discussion included chemical abuse issues and the <br />process for dealing with and referring those; <br />Councilmember Kough asked if NYFS could function with a <br />reduction in City support, given the number of requested <br />increases coming before the City. <br />Ms. Andrews noted that, given the funding cuts in grants and <br />other means of support, a reduction would certainly create <br />additional hardships for NYFS. <br />Mayor Klausing sought clarification of how the SRFC <br />complemented other NYFS services. <br />Ms. Hansen noted that, over the last seven years, SRFC had <br />remained in the background and provided funding. Ms. Hansen <br />reviewed SRFC funding for community service workers; service <br />coordination and provision for gaps in communities; and their <br />key planning and coordination in addition to funding to utilize <br />the data, efforts and information gleaned during the past years of <br />
