City Council Study Session — 08/15/OS DRAFT Minutes - Page 19 Non-A�enda Item Central Dispatch Center/Mayar's Meeting Update Mayor Klausing was out-of-town, and Acting Mayor Maschka attended the Mayor's meeting held last week regarding the Ramsey County Central Dispatch Center, and updated Councilmembers on the discussion and determinations. Councilmember Maschka reviewed the background of the issue for the public's benefit; and noted the suburban mayors' position that they did not support a"roll-out plan" of the County to slowly take over the Dispatch system; and did not support the original calculation methods. Councilmember Maschka advised that the suburban mayors were requesting that the County take over the dispatch system immediately, and asked that the County Board not make a decision at their August 23, 2005 meeting, but to further discuss and consider alternatives and suggesting a calculation based on 60% call volume and 40% property taxes to reduce the substantial increase and shift of cost to suburban communities from the City of St. Paul. Councilmember Maschka noted that all mayors were signing a letter addressed to the County board reflecting that position; and noted that the mayors' delegation now had apparent Ramsey County Board support. Discussion included the position of the City of Maplewood and White Bear Township and their future in the Central Dispatch Center. It was determined that the mayors' letter would suffice at this time, and adoption of another resolution would be premature, but may be appropriate at a later date. Staff was directed to attach a copy of the signed mayors' letter to the weekly City Manager Report for Councilmember review and information.
