Discuss 60-Day Sign Variance for KFAN The Restaurant for "Texas Hold'em" Poker Tournament Councilmember Kough, on behalf of KFAN The Restaurant, spoke regarding their need for a temporary sign to advertise their poker tournament; and recent code enforcement measures by staff to request their removal of a non-permitted temporary sign. Councilmember Kough sought deviation from current sign ordinance provisions to allow for a temporary sign for this establishment. There were no representatives of the organization present at the meeting. Mayor Klausing observed that the City had a process for seeking a variance from the City's sign ordinance. City Attorney Anderson reviewed sign ordinance regulations and options available for KFAN; the variance process; with due notice to adjoining property owners and public hearing provisions. City Planner Thomas Paschlce reviewed City ordinance prohibiting banners in the City; and the need for sign compliance within the rules and regulations proscribed; and variance procedures. Mr. Paschke advised that there were several options available to the organization; but suggested that they ma1�e contact with staff to discuss those options. Mayor Klausing suggested that the organization submit an application and address options on a staff level.
