304181 Doors. Doors providing access to a dwelling unit,

<br />rions set forth herein. Such deadholt locks shall be operated
<br />only by the tiuning of a knob or a key and shall ha�e a lock
<br />throw p�not less than I-inch. For the purposeof �5 section,
<br />a slidingbolt shall not be consideredan acceptabledeadbol�
<br />lock. Such deadl�olt locks shall be installed according to
<br />manufacturer's specificarions and maintainedingood work-
<br />ingorder. Alldeadboltlocks requiredhy this secrion shallbe
<br />designed and installedin such a manner so as to he operable
<br />inside of the dwelling unit, rooming unit or housekeeping
<br />unit without the use of a key, tool, combinarion thereof or
<br />any other special knowledge or effort.
<br />30418.2 Windows. Operable windows located in whole or
<br />in part within 6 feet (1828 mm) above ground level or a
<br />walking surface below that provide access to a dwelling
<br />unit, roamin�unitor housekeepingunit thatis rented, leased
<br />or let shall beequipped with awindow sashlocking devices.
<br />30418.3 Basement hatchways. Basement hatchways that
<br />provide access to a dwelling unit, rooming unit or house-
<br />keeping unit th,�t is rented, leased or let shall be equipped
<br />with devices that secure the units from unaUt�or�zed entry.

<br />condirion. Every owner of a structure containing a rooming
<br />house, housekeeping units, a hotel, a dormitory, two or more
<br />dwelling units or �'a or more nonresidenrialoccupancies, shall
<br />maintain, in aclean and sanitary condirion, thesharedor public
<br />areas of the st�tteture and exterior properiy.
<br />305.2 Structural members. All strttctu�'al members shall he
<br />maintained structurallysound, andba eapable of supportingthe
<br />imposed loads.
<br />305.3 Interior surfaces. All interior surfaces, including win-
<br />dows and doors, shall i�e maintained in good, cleat�. a�ld sanitary
<br />condirion. Peeling, chipping, flaking or abraded paint shall be
<br />repaired, removed or covered. Cracked or loose plaster, de-
<br />cayed wood �nd other defecrivesurface condirionsshall be cor-
<br />rected.
<br />305.4 S tairs and walking surface&. �.vez'y stair, ramp, landing,
<br />balcony, porch, deck or other walldng surface shall be main-
<br />tained in sound co�lditir:� and good repair.
<br />305.5 Handrails and guards. Every handrail and guard shall
<br />he firmlyfastenedandcapableof supporung normally imposed
<br />loads and shall be maintained in good condirion.
<br />305.6Interior doors. Every interior door shall rit reasonably
<br />well within its frame and shall be capable of being opened and
<br />closed by beingproperly and securely attachedto jambs, head-
<br />ers or tracks as intendedby the manufacturerof the aEtaabmenl
<br />hardware.

<br />RUBBISH AND GARBAGE
<br />3071 Accumularion of rubbish or garbage. All exterior
<br />property and prenuses, and the interior of every structure, shail
<br />be free from any accumularion of rubbish or garhage.
<br />307.2 Disposal of rubbish. Every occupant of a structure shall
<br />disooseof all rubbishin aclean and sanitarv mannerby ptacin�
<br />such rubbish in approved containers.
<br />307.21 Rubbish storage facititiles, `�`he owner of every oo-
<br />cupied premises shall z�� approved covered containers
<br />for rubbish, and the owner o� the premises shall be responsi-
<br />ble for the te.rnovai of rubbish.
<br />307.2.2 Refrigerators. Refrigerators and similar equip-
<br />ment not in operarion shall not be discarded, abandoned or
<br />stored on premises without first removing the doors.
<br />307.3 Disposal of garbage. Every occupantof a structureshall
<br />dispose of garbage in a clean and sanitary manner by placing
<br />such garbage in an approved garbage disposal faciliry or ap-
<br />proved garbage containers.

<br />close-fittingcovers for t�e storageof suchmaterialsunril re-
<br />moved from the premises for disposal.
<br />SECTION 308
<br />EXTERMINATION
<br />308.1 Infestarion. All structures shall be kept free frora insect
<br />and rodent infestarion. All structures in which insects or ro-
<br />dents are found shall be promptly exterminated by approved
<br />processes that will not be injurious to human health. After ex-
<br />terminarion, proper precaurions shall he taken to prevent
<br />reinfestarion.
