� <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date: Oct 24,2005 <br />Itern No.: 3.h <br />Department Approval: hfana��r�wel: Agenda Section: <br />�� Consent <br />Itern Description: Approval to Accept 2006 Safe &Sober Grant Funding <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Ramsey County Sheriffs Office (RCSO), in conjunction with the Roseville Police Department, submitted an <br />application to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety to receive funds for the 2006 Safe & Sober grant <br />program. The Minnesota Office of Traffic Safety has informed Deputy Tim Entner of the RCSO that the <br />application has been accepted and $30,000 has been awarded to the two agencies. <br />Deputy Tim Entner will act as Project Director for the 2006 Safe & Sober Campaign. Deputy Entner's dedication <br />to the project the last four years has brought Ramsey County to the top of the seat belt citation list. Roseville's <br />Sergeant Rick Wahtera will be coordinating the grant activities for Roseville. Rick has extensive experience with <br />coordinating efforts for Operation Nite Cap, scheduling traffic control details through the State Patrol, <br />commercial vehicle inspections, and also is the Department's representative for AVCAM (a state-wide auto theft <br />prevention organization). <br />As stated previously, the two agencies have been awarded a total of $30,000.
