(PRI) has been contracted to conduct a controlled bum. PRI has safely conducted hundreds of such burns in the metro area in the past. Our experience and professionalism are highly regarded in the restoration industry. The site we propose to bum this fall is an established prairie that requires a maintenance �ur.�. x�-,-'�7� wxwc �ur�Wt*C�x ks a sz�w 1�•��::,��i:.� ��;xR�',�� r��E�ce ��:�F�d�lo��ers 4k�� were accidently killed with herbicide by a lawn care service. The bare ground left after a burn is ideal for re-introducing wildflower seed and plants. The fuels are tall prairie grasses & wildflowers. We intend to cut the fuels to about 6 inches height prior to the burn, and burn the cut materials as well--as they lay. This will reduce the fire's intensity and flame length and increase our control of the burn. The burn unit has turf grass along much of the edge, with wooden fences on two sides and a wooded area along one side. Fuels will be pulled away from the fences prior to the burn. The fire will be controlled to produce as little smoke as is possible. Smoke will possibly drift to the street to the south or surrounding neighbor's homes. As a minimum we will notify downwind neighbor's the day of the burn. We will have at least 3 experienced personnel on site at all times with 2 drip torches, 2 pump cans, garden hoses, and a pumper truck. We will do all necessary notifications to fire authorities prior to and after the burn is conducted. I have notified Art Widerstrom of the Minnesota DNR Carlos Avery Fire Dispatch of our intent to burn at this site. We hope to perform the controlled burn the week of November I�' �, 2005.
