Item Description: <br />� � -� <br />Request for Council Action <br />Consider 2006 City Budget <br />L BACKGROUND <br />Date: 11/14/OS <br />Item: 9. <br />City Budget <br />November 14,2005 <br />We talked about the 2006 budget at your Council Meetings on July 11, July 18, August 8, <br />August 15, August 22, September 12, September 19, September 26, and October 10. <br />The Truth-in-Taxation Hearing is at 6 o'clock on Monday, December 5" <br />The only other scheduled Council Meeting in December is December 19,2005, <br />II. WHAT WE HAVE HEARD <br />In previous budget sessions we have heard <br />• Councilmember Schroeder voice support for the budget only if the levy increase <br />is less than 5%; <br />. Councilmembers Ihlan and I�ough voice support for the budget if the levy <br />increase is as close to 5%as possible; <br />� Councilmember Maschka and Mayor Klausing voice support for the budget with <br />a 7.5% levy increase. <br />Councilmembers have had many questions about the budget and information requests. <br />Through numerous memos, e-mails, and presentations, Staff believes we have answered all <br />questions and responded to all information requests. (That does not mean Councilmembers <br />agree with staff responses and answers, only that we have responded and answered as best we <br />can.) We are not aware of any pending questions or information requests from <br />Councilmembers. <br />���. RECOMMENDATION <br />To avoid last-second surprises, I respectfully recommend that the Council settle in on some <br />compromise 2006 Budget. <br />, <br />.� <br />
