You will receive your grant agreement papenvork as soon as possible.
The ReLeaf Steering Committee had a daunting task trying to decide on the levels of grant awards for the
fine proposals submitted. At the end of tie day, the most deserving projects were selected, though most of
the awards were for less than what was requested. The proj ects that were cut back the most were primarily
tree planting efforts. This was done to reflect the new emphasis on community forest health and in taking
more of a comprehensive, management approach to tree maintenance.
If your award ir less than you requested, vou will need to submit a revised budzet detail .* rom vour
avvlication %rrrG Please prevare to submit this alon with vour s.,rrn rant azreemen If your requested
amount is the same as your award amount you can begin incurring expenses on your project.
If you need assistance, please contact the DNR or Tree Trust staff that you've been working with. This
program is generally set up on a reimbursement basis. That is, you will receive the money for your
MReLeaf grant after you have completed the proj ect. ff you need a partial payment in advance for purchase
of trees or contractual services, you must receivethe approval of your DNR stff contact for that cash
advance. Your grant agreement (contract) will describe this process in detail.
W e would also like to remind you that you will receive a base map of your community or neighborhood that
you can use as part of your natural resources planning. DNR, Tree Trust and State Historical Society staff
will be available to assist in interpreting the information on the maps. Also, brochures, tree hangers, and
other education materials on tree health, tree planting and care and energy conservation are available for your
use. Some are available at no charge and others you will need to order. Refer to Appendix A: Technical
Resource list in the Grant Guidelines booklet or on the MN ReLeafpage on the DNR web site
(www.dnr. state.mn.usl.
We look forward to helping you implement a successful project.
