I have been renting mr single family home
since 1992. Over those years I have put thousands of dollars into repairs and improvements. I have no problem
with inspections of rental properties to encourage and require all landlords to provide safe and adequate facilities
for Roseville residents.
y concern lies with the reauirement of an annual inspection and license fee. I would recommend that yo create
an ordinance requiring inspections every five years fnr those that meet the codes. Of course for those needing
work, I would expect repeat inspections (and possibly higher fees) to make sure the problems were rectified
You could also build in an incentive for those that keep everything up to code, such as a reduced license fee. So
many of my renters are thrilled that they are able to rent such a nice single family home in a great neighborhood
and town. I would hope that by your increasing the costs that owners of single family homes have to pay, you do
not force the owners of rentals to sell them. We are already paying highertaxes.
One think I feel very strongly about is ANNUAL inspections would be overkill. Most people's homes have never
been inspected. I n the case of rentals, to go from never to yearly is excessive and would be needlessly cost[y to
all.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for your service to the community,
Sincerely Yours,
C a v  fSn
j $`{}
