Public Hearings <br />a. Conduct a Public Hearing for Amarose Convenience Store, 1595 West High- <br />way 36, Off-Sale 3.2% Malt Liquor License Application <br />Finance Director Chris Miller summarized the Request for Council Action dated <br />October 19, 2009 for application of an Off-Sale 3.2% Malt Liquor License for <br />Amarose Convenience Store, located at 1595 West Highway 36, #245; and rec- <br />ommended approval. <br />Mayor Klausing opened and closed the Public Hearing at 7:45 p.m. to receive <br />public comment on the proposed application; with no one appearing to speak. <br />Discussion included the uniqueness of this off-sale application in the Rosedale <br />Shopping Center; and adherence to compliance checks as with other licensees. <br />Councilmember Pust questioned whether staff was aware of any experiences, <br />negative or positive, of other communities in selling alcohol in shopping centers <br />at which there was substantial youth congregated. <br />Mr. Miller advised that staff had not researched peer communities, but advised <br />that staff could do so if directed. Mr. Miller advised that the Police Department <br />had reviewed the application request, and had expressed no concern in its location <br />within the shopping center. <br />Mayor Klausing noted the odd space occupied by this convenience store business, <br />and its location relative to the main shopping areas. <br />12. Consider the Amarose Convenience Store, 1595 West Highway 36, Off-Sale <br />3.2% Malt Liquor License Application <br />Roe moved, Klausing seconded, approval of the Off-Sale 3.2% Malt Liquor Li- <br />cense for Amarose Convenience Store, located at 1595 West Highway 36, #245. <br />Roll Call <br />Ayes: Roe; Johnson; and Klausing. <br />Nays: Pust. <br />Motion carried. <br />b. Consider 2010 City Benefits Insurance Renewals and Cafeteria Plan Contri- <br />butions <br />
