C. <br />Consent <br />Approving <br />Minutes o f 01 /05/04 <br />DRAFT - Organizational Meeting - DRAFT <br />Monday, January 5,2004 <br />Public Reception 5:30 p.m. <br />A public reception for newly-elected Mayor Craig Klausing and re- <br />elected Councilmember Dean Maschka was held in the City Hall <br />Lobby at 5:30 p.m. <br />City Council Oath of Office 6:00 p.m. <br />City Manager Neal Beets greeted those present and those viewing <br />the proceedings at home; provided an overview of the Oath of <br />Office ceremony; and introduced Professor Paul Hamre, who was to <br />swear in Mayor Klausing. <br />Mr. Hamre expressed his honor at being a part of the proceedings <br />and his respect for Craig Klausing and his ethics and moral <br />standards; followed by his swearing in of Mayor Craig D. Klausing. <br />Mayor Klausing thanked his former high school teacher for the <br />influence he had on his life and interest in politics; and briefly <br />commented on the honor and humility he felt for the trust provided <br />by the public on electing him to the office of mayor. Mayor <br />Klausing expressed his hope for a new era and greater civility <br />among Councilmembers, among the City Council and the <br />community, and within the community; expressed an awe in the <br />trust given by the residents; and expressed his desire to prove <br />worthy of that trust. In conclusion, Mayor Klausing sought the <br />prayers and assistance of Roseville residents during his term as <br />mayor, and promised that he would attempt to be worthy of their <br />trust through hard work and dedication. <br />City Manager Beets introduced numerous dignitaries in the <br />audience, including State Representative Mindy Greiling; Ramsey <br />County Commissioner Jan Wiessner; Shoreview Mayor Sandy <br />Martin; Roseville School District No. 623 Board member, Jill Lund; <br />several former Roseville Mayors and former Councilmembers. <br />City Manager Beets introduced Mrs. Margaret Knutson, who then <br />administered the City Council Oath of Office to her son, <br />
