Potential Benefits:
1. Customer Service:
Ambulances located in the City might provide faster service to residents.
Faster service might be beneficial to Roseville's aging population, or to
anyone who suffers a critical accident or medical emergency here.
2. Local Control:
The city would have more influence over the cost and quality of ambulance
service in Roseville.
Potential Drawbacks:
1. Is ambulance service "Public Safety":
The Roseville Council has not made a policy decision about whether
ambulance service is a"public safety" service and whether the city wants to
have local control over ambulance service in Roseville.
2. Cost/Revenues from EMS:
Depending on your business plan and how it is implemented, Emergency
Medical Services can recover their costs, lose money, or make money — and
financial results will vary from year to year.
The Policv Decision:
Whether the Roseville City Council wants to have the option of deciding
who will provide ambulance services in Roseville in the future, or not.
A. If the Council wants the option, the Council could j oin the
cities named above and adopt a Resolution supporting the
special legislation.
B. If the Council does not want the option, then the Council
need not take any action.
Neal Beets
City Manager
