REQUEST FOR COUNCIL DISCUSSION/DIRECTION <br />DATE: O 1/12/04 <br />ITEl�1 2VC�= �, <br />Department Approval: Agenc�a �eGtiOri: <br />nPW ��� �� i'�����9��N— <br />Item Description: Amendments to text of City Code <br />1.0 BACKGROUND: <br />At the Council meeting on January 26,2004 siY ordinances will be offered for first reading. These <br />amendments originated with staff and have been written by staff. The revisions are mostly new <br />organization, formatting and modernization of tern�s to the various sections of the Code. This has been a <br />long process, begun in 1998-99, with a directive from Council and Planning Commission to modemize the <br />current (1959) land use codes, making them more user friendly and resolving inconsistencies. <br />The City Attorney has been reviewing these and has kept up with the changes recommended by the <br />Commissions. All six have been reviewed at public hearings and received a Planning Commission or Park <br />Commission recommendation of approval. <br />The proposed ordinance and the strike-out versions are attached. They include: <br />�� Amendments to the "Non-Conforming Uses and Structures definitions. <br />(Section 1011). <br />i�. Amendments to the Board of Adjustment and Appeal, establishing a <br />Variance Board (Section 1014) <br />�', Amendments to Business Zoning (Section 1005) <br />�. Amendments to Shopping Center Zoning (Section 1006) <br />E. Amendments to Industrial Zoning (Section 1007) <br />M'.
