Goals and Objectives <br />of the <br />City Council <br />�as�.�a �-�,� � �h�,.-ky.�a v�� z000 ��> <br />Economic Development <br />The City's economic future depends on cooperation among business, citizens, and government. <br />Job creation and retention, increase in fiscal capacity, and improvement of the quality oflife for <br />Roseville citizens require the mutual efforts of all. <br />Council goals for economic development are to: <br />. continueto maintain a positive balance between residential and commerciaUindustrial land <br />use <br />. strengthen the business community, while decreasing the dependency on retail development <br />.' retain existing business and attract new ones <br />• continue to redevelop the blighted commerciaVindusirial areas <br />Environmental Preservation <br />The City Council is committed to preserve and to protect Roseville's beauty, vitality and <br />serenity. The Council will work to ensure that development and redevelopment ofthe <br />Community's physical assets will be in harmony with our environment and quality oflife. <br />The Council's environmental goals are to: <br />• identify and solve local pollution problems through clean-up, mitigation and prevention <br />+ increase forestation and appropriate green landscaping where applicable <br />* work toward the reduction c�noise pollution, pa..rficularly along the Highway 36 corridor <br />• continue the emphasis on waste reduction and the improvement of the community's recycling <br />efforts <br />� promote public transportation and non-motorized travel <br />• protect sensitive and unique natural ecosystems within the City <br />* continue the emphasis on strnng programs which develop environmental awareness in all of <br />our citizenry <br />II-2 <br />
