REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
Date: 1/26/2004
Item No: 3.23
pproval: Manager Approved: Agenda Section:
--

Item Description: Modifying the Joint Powers Agreement with the City of Little Canada
Background
The cities of Roseville and Little Canada entered into a joint powers agreement (JPA) in August, 2002, that
authorized the City of Roseville to provide part-time information systems support on a fee-based basis.
The agreement specified an hourly rate to be reimbursed on an on-going basis.
Since the original agreement was signed, both cities have had an opportunity to experience the amount of
general support needed by Little Canada. With this experience in mind, Staff at both cities has concurred
that it would be more effective to adopt an agreement that specifies a fixed amount for the entire fiscal
year, consistent with similar Roseville JPA's.
The attached JPA has been approved by the City of Little Canada. The scope of services remains the same,
with the only change being the reference to an annual payment rather than an hourly fee. The previous
agreement specified an hourly rate of $60 per hour. The revised agreement specifies an annual fee of
$8,700.
The attached revised JPA has been approved by the City of Little Canada and is awaiting approval from the
Roseville City Council.
Budget Impact
The overall contract amount will remain approximately the same as the previous agreement.
Council Action Requested
Approve the revised Joint Powers Agreement with the City of Little Canada for the purposes of providing
periodic, part-time information systems support.
