Some of their efforts include: <br />+ Coordinate biannual street sweeping of a11 City streets and pathways <br /># Regular grass trimming along certain boulevards and streets and in City parks <br />� Identify and pick up trash in problem areas <br />� Coordinate Clean Up Day where residents can bring items that can't go in the regular trash <br />� Answer residents' questions on how to dispose of items that can't go in the trash <br />• Place trash cans on City property with hea�y pedestrian traffic <br />� Coordinate Adopt-a-Park program where groups adopt City parks and regularly pick up <br />trash and report problems or needed repairs to the Parks and Recreation Department <br />* Host Earth Day activities to provide public education about protecting the earth and litter <br />prevention <br />� Work with area businesses and individuals to pick up litter and to address code violations <br />� Dredge City lakes or ponds, as needed <br />These efforts take considerable time and money, but well worth the effort to keep the City clean and <br />to protect the environment. However, citizens have come forward requesting additional work and <br />offering to help pick up litter, particularly in spring when litter becomes more visible after the snow <br />melts. In late January the City Council approved creating an ad hoc litter control committee and <br />allocated $2,500 to fund the project. The City hired Patty Hoag to coordinate a city-wide litter pick <br />up effort in April. <br />Patty pulled together a committee of 11 people from businesses, churches, Roseville Area Schools, <br />service organizations, employees and the community. Representatives from each of those groups <br />are responsible to recruit additional volunteers. <br />The committee discussed several ways to promote litter pick up during the month of April. These <br />include: Proclamation declaring April as Keep Roseville Beautiful month, letters to the editor, news <br />releases, Roseville Wrap, information on the Web and Cable Channel 16 and letters to area <br />businesses, churches, civic organizations and neighborhood watch participants. <br />
