REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
DATE: 03/29/04
ITEM NO.: 3.h
Drteat Apr+al: M►oer ]}i++1: Agenda Section:
- .
   Consent
, .
Item Description: Approve Qwest Easement on City Property at Victoria Street and County Road B
Background: The City of Roseville is the owner of the property on the southeast comer of the Victoria
Street/ County Road B intersection. This property is used for storm water retention and treatment purposes.
Qwest has approached the City with a request to locate a telephone cabinet in the northeast corner of this
property, directly adjacent to public street right- of- way.
Qwest is expanding their DSL service (high speed internetconnections) throughout the City and is upgrading
existing facilities to accommodate this additional service. They have an existing telephone cabinet in the
right- of- way of Victoria Street. The existing cabinet is not large enough to accommodate the DSL
equipment. The proposed cabinet would be located directly behind the existing cabinet.
We have field verified the proposed location and determined that it will not interfere with the esting use of
the City Property. It is also outside of the sight triangle required for the safe operation of the intersection.
We have had the City Attorney draft an easement that addresses insurance and liability issues, a copy of this
easement is attached.
Financial Implications:
Qwest has agreed to pay the City $1000 for the 20 x 20 foot (400 square feet) easement. This is
consistent with other residentially zoned easement acquisition that the City has negotiated in the last
year.
RECOMIVNDED COUNCIL ACTION:
Approve Qwest Easement on City property at Victoria Street and County Road B.
Prepared by: Debra Bloom
