DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURIT'Y <br />Office for pomestic Preparedness, U.S. Fire Administration (USFA) <br />Assistanceto FirefghtersGrantProgram • <br />AGENCY: The Departmentof Homeland Security (DHS), Off�ice for pomestic <br />Preparedness (ODP), Boarder and Transportation Security Directorate. <br />ACTION: Notice of Funds Availability. <br />SUMMARY: We, DHS, are publishing this Notice to announce the availability of grant <br />funding for the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFG program) for fiscal year 2004 <br />and to provide the details and guidance regarding the 2004 program year. <br />The program is intended to make grants directly to fire departments of a State for <br />the purpose of enhancing the departments' ability to protect the health and safety of the <br />public as well as that of fuefighting personnel facing fire and fire-related hazards.
