City Council Regular Meeting — 05/10/04 <br />DRAFT Minutes - Page 3 <br />A. Barbara Obeda, 2910 N Asbury Street <br />Mrs. Obeda commented positively and complimented the <br />recent work of the Clean-up Committee in Roseville. Mrs. <br />Obeda specifically noted the areas along County Road C, <br />Hamline Avenue and along the railroad track rights-of- <br />way. Mrs. Obeda suggested that all residents continue to <br />participate, and if walking, take a garbage bag along and <br />collect any trash; noting that if everyone continued to do <br />their part, the City could remain beautiful. Mrs. Obeda, on <br />a personal note, that her husband had been privileged to <br />serve on the Clean-up Committee and continued to collect <br />several bags of trash daily that he brought to City Hall. <br />Councilmember Kough recognized Mr. Edward Obeda's <br />commitment and outstanding participation in clean up <br />efforts in the City; and concurred with the great <br />improvement he'd seen in the community. <br />B. Bob Truman, a St. Paul Resident <br />Mr. Truman commented on the substantial amount of <br />money he spent in Roseville for dining and social activities; <br />noted the consideration the City of St. Paul was giving to <br />becoming non-smoking, and strongly encouraged the City <br />of Roseville to give the same consideration to adopting an <br />ordinance against smoking. <br />C. Abby Knight, Student and Roseville Resident <br />Ms. Knight concurred in her support of Roseville <br />considering becoming a smoke-free community. <br />D. Dan Roe, 2100 Avon Street <br />Mr. Roe identified with Mayor Klausing's former <br />comments encouraging commission applicants, if not <br />involved on a commission, to continue to be part of the <br />process and remain a positive influence in the community. <br />Mr. Roe noted that many times, citizens only get involved <br />when opposing an issue, but also needed to be involved and <br />express their opinions when things are positive. Mr. Roe <br />encouraged Councilmembers to continue to advertise <br />applications for all commission openings, whether existing <br />commissioners are eligible for reappointment to provide <br />
