Schedule: In order to meet the Federal approval deadlines, we have put together the following
schedule. We estimate that it will take staff(and consultants) at least 3 months to put together
plans and specifications for the proposedproject.
May 24
June 14
July 15
Proj ect memorandum complete
Finalize right- of- way needs, Authorize appraisals
Easement appraisals complete
July-August Negotiate easements
August 15 Final plans to state for preliminary review
Sept 27
Sept 30
City Council consider easement condemnation
(if necessary)
Deadline for Plans & specifications Final Approval
Right- of- way acquisition complete (or 90 days firn acquisition)
RECOMMENDED COUNCIL ACTION:
We are looking for Council direction on the proposed County Road B-2 Trail project. Due to a
tight time schedule, staff does need a decision regarding this project, to ensure that we can meet
the project deadlines.
If the Council is interested in ordering this proj ect, a preferred alternate should be a part of the
recommendation. The alternates are:
Alternate 1: Bituminous Trail, Rice to Walnut - this is the proposal we submitted for
Federal Funding. The design is an 8 foot wide bituminous trail located within the County
Road B-2 right- of- way.
Alternate 2: Bituminous Trail, Lexington to Walnut- This proposal would eliminate any
trail or sidewalk between Rice Street and Lexington Avenue.
Alternate 3: Concretel Bituminous Trail, Rice to Walnut - The alternate includes a 6 foot
wide concrete sidewalk on both sides of the road for the residential segment of County
Road B-2.
Also, if the Council is interested in pursuing the burying of the overhead utilities, staff should be
directed to prepare a scoping study that would provide actual costs for this corridor.
Prepared By: Duane SchwartzlDeb Bloom
