RECOMMENDATIONS
Alternate 1: Bituminous Trail Proposal is within the original project budget; however, the
8 foot wide bituminous pathway was not well received by property owners in the
Residential district. This alternate could be constructed in 2005.
. Alternate 2: Lexington to Walnut. This proposal would eliminate any trail or sidewallc
between Rice Street and Lexington Avenue. From property owner feedbacic in the
Residential District, it would appear that this would be their preferred alternate. This
proposal would need to be reviewed and approved by the Metropolitan Council
TransportationAdvisory Board (TAB) for conformance with the original grant
application. Upon review, the TAB may choose to eliminate a portion or all of the
Federal Funding. Provided we obtain state approval, this alternate could be constructed
in its entirety in 2005.
. Alternate 3: Concrete and Bituminous Trail Proposal exceeds the original budget by
about $1,000,000. This was a hybrid proposal intended to address the Residential District
property owner's concerns about an 8 foot wide bituminous trail. The proposed 6 foot
concrete sidewallc on both sides of the road was more in lceeping with the feedbacic
received at the April meeting.
. Alternate 3: Concrete and Bituminous Trail Proposal would be constructed in two
phases, with the segments west of Lexington constructed in 2005 and the sidewallcs east
of Lexington constructed in 2006. The construction of sidewallc on both sides of the 2
mile long residential district will necessitate extensive drainage corrections on both sides
of the street.
_ All project development including plan preparation and right-of-way acquisition in must
be completed by September 30,2004.
County Road B-2 Trail
FeasibilityReport
May 24,2004
y
