City Council Study Session — 05/17/04 DRAFT Minutes - Page 5 Ms. Hoag briefly reviewed the Keep Roseville Beautiful campaign, noting its success, enthusiastic volunteers and cooperative weather. Ms. Hoag noted that there were 200 plus bags of litter collected during the campaign with the project concentrating on city rights-of-way and park areas, with state and county-controlled areas along Highway 36 and Snelling Avenue also cleaned. Ms. Hoag noted that several volunteers had expressed interest in this becoming an annual campaign and staff sought consideration by the City Council for funding to do so. Mayor Klausing opined that the campaign had accomplished a tremendous amount under a limited budget. City Manager Beets also expressed appreciation to Ms. Hoag for her coordination of the program, noting it came in slightly under budget; and also recognized Ms. Hoag's coordination of that program while coordinating special municipal elections. City Manager Beets presented proclamations to Ms. Hoag, and Mr. Obeda who was present in the audience, along with special tokens of appreciation for their contribution to the campaign. Mr. Beets noted proclamations to other participants would be delivered. City Manager Beets also presented a proclamation to Councilmember Kough for his spearheading of this campaign, and dubbed Councilmember Kough as "Roseville's Mr. Clean" with appropriate advertising. Mayor Klausing, on behalf of the City Council, the community, and staff, again expressed appreciation to Ms. Hoag, Councilmember Kough, staff and the volunteers who assisted in the clean up process. Councilmember Kough specifically recognized Mr. Stanley Lindberg, a long-time resident of the community, for his continuing efforts to keep the community beautiful.
