Recognitions, Donations, Communications <br />S.a Update from Ramsey County Commissioner Jan <br />Wiessner <br />Mayor Klausing welcomed Ramsey County Commissioner <br />Jan Wiessner to present an update on Ramsey County news <br />and activities. Commissioner Wiessner provided a Bench <br />Handout with numerous County promotional and <br />informational items. <br />Commissioner Wiessner highlighted the County's AAA <br />credit rating; national recognition of the County Library <br />and Parks & Recreation systems; and recent recognition by <br />the national Association of Counties for collaborative <br />efforts for inner-city kids. <br />Commissioner Wiessner addressed County budget issues, <br />shifting by the State and Federal governments to Counties <br />of unfunded mandates; and the challenges ahead. <br />Commissioner Wiessner noted the County's long tradition <br />of providing care at the Ramsey County Nursing Home and <br />creation of a future task force to look at various options. In <br />a related noted, Commissioner Wiessner provided updated <br />demographic trends for older adult populations in the state <br />and a related summary report.
