Economic Develovment <br />A. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT POLICIES <br />The City will: <br />�, Retain existing businesses and assist in their expansion with help to meet <br />regulations on sensitive environmental issues. <br />�. Create new opportunities to offer high quality of life by offering longer <br />term jobs that can sustain families and tax base within the community. <br />�. Maintain a positive balance between the living and working environment <br />with appropriate xnix and distribution � uses. <br />�. Revise land use plans to utilize innovative land use approaches through <br />xriixed use commercial developments. <br />5_ Eliminate blighted and polluted soil areas. Assist through TIF as needed <br />and/or facilitate their redevelopment, west of I 35W and in Twin Lalces. <br />Redevelop blighted areas into higher density business centers, creating an <br />enhanced tax and job base. <br />7. Work cooperatively with other agencies and units of government to <br />provide jobs, tax base and housing. <br />Annually prepare and update a 5 year economic developmentplan for the <br />community. Adopt the Economic Development Plan (by reference) as a <br />portion of the Community'sComprehensive Planning effort, consistent <br />with the land use plan. <br />�, The City will develop programs to reduce commercial/industrial and <br />traffic noise and air pollution (bothindoor and outdoor). When initially <br />approving or when licensing businesses, require the businesses to <br />demonstrate that they are in compliance with all state and federal <br />emissions requirements. <br />�� <br />
