Scott Storlien, resident at 140 N. McCarrons Blvd. commented: <br />+ Mr. Storlien owns the small single family home that is zoned for business which was <br />bought through a HLJD sale. <br />. The owner has had difficulty getting financing for improvements since the home is not in <br />compliance with zoning. <br />t He would be interested in updating the home and has always thought that the only reuse <br />for the site would be for the adj oining owners for parking. <br />Loren Hockmeyer, resident at 161 Elmer Street (from phone conversation on 3/18/04) <br />• Mr. Hockmeyer has owned the property since the late 80's. <br />� He plans to keep the west side of property as open space until or if he sells the property. <br />• He has done some excavating on the site but no other activity. <br />* The city currently owns the right of way between his two parcels <br />• The east lot was zoned B 1 and then rezoned R2 — he believes without proper notice — <br />City history does show that the property was B 1 in the past. <br />• No concerns or comments regarding the Guptil and Armory sites (it should be up to the <br />owners to develop the property). Donating some of the land as park area would be nice. <br />Meeting 3. <br />On December 18,2003 the first Neighborhood Task Force meeting was held at the Galilee <br />Lutheran Church. The following members were present. Ann Peterson, Donna Dean, Dan <br />Jeans, George Johnson, Pastor Carlson, Dennis Guptil, Cathy Bennett & Dennis Welsch. <br />After reviewing the area conditions, demographics and issues the task force members offered <br />comments on the most important quality of life standards for a healthy neighborhood: <br />o Church focuses on neighborhood <br />o Transportation - quick hop to metro area <br />o Safety <br />o Speeders around Lake including school bus <br />o Traffic Control <br />o Transit to Rice/McCarrons <br />• Good services — streets, police, fire, park/center <br />o Neighborhood concern and consciousness of each other <br />+ Maintain homes and prevent blight <br />o Good schools, churches <br />� Open space <br />o Diverse housing stock <br />o Neighbors communicate <br />o Casual walk — convenience <br />o Socially accepted standard to keep up property <br />Final Version 24 July 26,2004 <br />
