A. Citv Manager Recommendation# 1: Within the outlined City Priorities, the RosevilleParks and <br />RecreationDepartment is listed as a low priority at #5 out of 6. <br />Im�act Statements: General reductions in Parks and Recreation staffing, programming and facilities <br />support may result in; <br />� The reduction in general upkeep and aesthetics over time. <br />� The reduction in opportunities for the community as a whole to participate in healthy, wholesome <br />activities as individuals, families and groups over time. <br />� The reduction in properiy values over time. <br />* Over all contribution to the growing obesity and wellness issue over time. <br />+ Loss of quality of life. <br />� Increase in crime rates <br />+ Loss of positive opportunities for our youngsters, oldsters and families to get involved in. The <br />alternatives to lost opportunities are many times not good. <br />� Short term solutions have long term affects, i.e. pay now or pay later scenario. <br />� Resident dissatisfactionlevels, possiblyfolks moving (long term affect) <br />� Loss of good staff. <br />o Currently we have employees that take pride in their work and their workplace. Reduced <br />upkeep of facilities and diminished support directly reflects back on the site/program managers <br />who have pride in their workplace. <br /># Diminished local and national recognitions. i.e. National Accreditation, National Gold Medal <br />Award and various state and local <br />o Changing the way Parks and Recreation does business will directly impact Roseville's local <br />and national recognition as a frontrunner in the profession. <br />* Lost financial support. <br />o Concern for the message that is being sent to potential future community donors— i.e. Muriel <br />Sahlin Arboretum and the Harriet Alexander Nature Center? <br />� Loss of community pride and support. Loss community connections (volunteers) <br />o Will the overall savings from the reductions outweigh the potential community reaction or <br />impressions? <br />
