Mr. Toshikazu Kawabe Mr. Kawabe expressed his appreciation for his stay and the wonderful memories he'll take back to Japan. Mr. Kawabe thanked the residents for their kindness and friendship, and the program participants and coordinators for their cooperation. Mr. Kawabe encouraged continuation of the cooperation between the Cities of Roseville and Shinmachi whether or not the exchange program continued. Ms. Farmer recognized the ten Japanese students, each of whom individually shared their perspective on their visit to Minnesota, and expressed their appreciation to the City and their host families. Mayor Klausing expressed his appreciation to the students for their comments; and advised the students that he was pleased that they would like a return visit to Minnesota and the City of Roseville, and the City would in turn welcome their return. Recess Recess Mayor Klausing recessed the meeting at 6:44 p.m. and reconvened at 6:50 p.m. 6. Discuss a Proposed No-Smoking Ordinance being Considered by the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners Mayor Klausing requested that Councilmember Ihlan introduce this item and review current action being considered by the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners. Councilmember Ihlan provided a copy of the most recent action being considered by the Ramsey County Board, noting their planned discussion at their Tuesday, August 17, 2004 Board meeting. Councilmember Ihlan noted that preliminary discussions considered a smoking ban for restaurants, not bars (defined as establishments whose proceeds were based on 50% or more in alcoholic beverage sales).
