Roseville News Fax June 16,2004 <br />Use your Seatbelt <br />In a two week period RosevillePolice issued 145 seatbelt violation citations. They joined a <br />statewide effort to raise public awareness that using seatbelts saves lives. Off'icers reported <br />that in a recent roadside survey they found that only 75% of drivers wore seatbelts. Seatbelt <br />usage is mandatory in Minnesota, and not wearing one could result in a heavy fine. <br />"I hope we reach 100°/o compliance," said Sergeant Rick Wahtera. "Ibe seen firsthand <br />the devastation of someone not wearing a seatbelt. If we reach full compliance, we could <br />prevent needless deaths or injuries,"he added. <br />
