Roseville City Council
access are available at no cost at Ramsey County Libraries.
By Neal Beets, City Manager
At the same time we also sent personal letters to all firefighters and retirees in-
forming them of the auction. I personally spoke to two retirees about the auc-
tion to make sure they understood the process and how they could participate.
On September IT I informed the Council of some complaints from retirees
about auctioning the Pumper on E-Bay. Here is what I said (the complete City
Manager Report is attached):
. Some retired firefighters are upset about us selling the 1949
pumper on E-bay. I think some of them, individually and as small
groups, will bid to buy the vehicle, but if their bids prove not to be
the highest bid they may renew their complaint about this situa-
tion. I think they would have preferred that we not sell the pum-
per or that we give it to them.
Six weeks later, on October 18r not having heard any further complaints or
inquiries from anyone and having finished the E-Bay registration process, the
E-Bay auction began. To auction items on E-Bay, or at any auction house or
auction site, you agree to sell the item to the highest bidder. (SeeE-Bay User
Agreement, attached.)
Ten days later, on October 'r the auction closed and the vehicle was sold for
$4,152. We received 32 bids. The highest bid was $4,152. The purchaser has
paid for the vehicle and removed it from City premises. The $4,152 has been
deposited in the City's General Fund.
IV. Council Action
Does the Council want to change the City's policy about disposing of City
equipment?
