City Manager's Report
Friday, September 3,2004
5. Buildin Project. When this City Manager Report reaches you on
Friday, September 3rd, our Building Project will be substantially complete.
Though all the final
numbers are not in yet,
Duane Schwartz and
McGough and Ankeny
Kell and about 50
contractors and roughly
200 suppliers will have
delivered this Project to
you and the community
ahead of schedule and
below budget. (We will
provide you with a final
accounting in about 60
days.)
City staff will be moving into their refurbished work areas next
week. If you would like an individual tour of the completed Project, just
let me or Duane or Margaret know. There will also be opportunities for
escorted tours at the City's Open House on Saturday, September 18".
Note that I said the Project is "substantially complete." Some details
and some warranty items will linger for a while. For example,
. The new presentation table in the council chambers will not be in-
stalled until after your first council meeting in the refurbished
council chambers on Monday, September 13". We are now told the
new presentation table will be installed around September 15". At
your September 13th meeting we will use a separate microphone and
Elmo setup for public input.
. Interior and exterior signage still needs attention. Interior signage
identifying each department and meeting room will be installed be-
fore the Open House. Exterior attached and detached signage will
be constructed within the next month or so.
Otherwise, all life safety construction issues are complete.
